He that hath clean hands ( honestly ) and a pure heart ( sincerely ) , which are not tempted to cheating , that is pleasing to the Lord . Clean hands , meaning away from other forms of fraud , cheating away and not easily tempted by the benefits through the wrong path . It means to be pure of heart is not contaminated / polluted by a variety of ulterior motives in doing something , no strings attached , no political interest in the deed , clean heart . To those of you who are young , it was equally important honesty to run . Look at the message of Paul to Timothy : " Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young . Be an example to the believers in speech , in life , in love, in faithfulness and in purity . " 1 Timothy 4 : 12

Jujur dan Tulus

Mazmur 24 : 4 - 5 — “ Orang yang bersih tangannya dan murni hatinya, yang tidak menyerahkan dirinya kepada penipuan, dan yang tidak bersumpah palsu. Dialah yang akan menerima berkat dari TUHAN dan keadilan dari Allah yang menyelamatkan dia.”

Apa kriteria yang sering muncul dalam lowongan-lowongan kerja ?
Yang paling umum ada tiga, yaitu jenjang pendidikan, pengalaman dan batas usia. Ada beberapa lagi yang juga sering muncul yaitu sanggup bekerja sama secara tim dan bersedia ditempatkan dimanapun sesuai kebutuhan perusahaan, juga penguasaan beberapa kemampuan lain seperti menggunakan komputer dan bahasa. Seandainya saya membuka lowongan, maka yang akan saya jadikan syarat utama bukan itu semua melainkan jujur dan tulus. Mengapa ? Karena ini merupakan kualitas manusia yang semakin lama semakin langka.

Kejujuran dan ketulusan bukan lagi menjadi hal penting. Korupsi dan penipuan terjadi di setiap lini pekerjaan mulai dari atas sampai ke bawah. Orang pun tidak lagi tulus dalam mengerjakan sesuatu tapi pamrih. Hasil kerja tergantung bayaran, kalau tidak dibayar tidak dikerjakan, pendeknya semuanya tergantung uang. Selain langka, tulus dan jujur merupakan kualitas yang bagi saya tidak bisa dibeli dengan uang. Yang lain-lain bisa dipelajari seiring waktu.

Jaman sekarang orang yang jujur dan tulus justru dipandang aneh atau malah bodoh. Orang semakin cenderung berpikir pendek dan mementingkan urusan duniawi. Apa yang dikatakan Daud dahulu: "Orang bebal berkata dalam hatinya: "Tidak ada ALLAH." Busuk dan jijik perbuatan mereka, tidak ada yang berbuat baik." Mazmur 14 : 1, kini dilakukan semakin banyak. Orang tidak lagi memikirkan pertanggungjawaban kelak di hadapan TUHAN. Atau kalaupun tahu bahwa ALLAH itu ada, tetapi mereka mengira bahwa TUHAN tidak akan menghukum karena mereka menyalah artikan bentuk kasih dan kesabaran TUHAN yang besar dan panjang.

Bentuk ilusi rohani seperti inipun sudah disinggung dalam Alkitab. "Kamu menyusahi TUHAN dengan perkataanmu. Tetapi kamu berkata: "Dengan cara bagaimanakah kami menyusahi DIA?" Dengan cara kamu menyangka: "Setiap orang yang berbuat jahat adalah baik di mata TUHAN; kepada orang-orang yang demikianlah Ia berkenan atau jika tidak, di manakah ALLAH yang menghukum?" Maleakhi 2 : 17
Bukankah kita menyaksikan banyak orang dengan pola pikir seperti itu hari-hari ini ?

Orang yang bersih tangannya (jujur) dan murni hatinya (tulus), yang tidak tergoda pada kecurangan, itulah yang berkenan di hadapan TUHAN. Bersih tangannya, berarti menjauhi bentuk-bentuk penipuan, menjauhi kecurangan dan tidak gampang tergoda oleh keuntungan-keuntungan lewat jalan yang salah. Murni hati itu artinya hati tidak terkontaminasi/tercemar oleh berbagai motif-motif tersembunyi dalam melakukan sesuatu, tidak pamrih, tidak ada politik kepentingan dalam perbuatan, bersih hatinya. Kepada mereka-mereka yang seperti ini akan diganjar berkat juga akan diselamatkan dengan keadilan yang langsung berasal dari TUHAN. Inilah upah besar yang dijanjikan TUHAN bagi orang yang hidup jujur dan tulus.

Kasih dalam tingkatan seperti yang diinginkan TUHAN mengandung kebaikan-kebaikan yang mencakup kedua hal ini. Lihatlah rinciannya yang disampaikan Paulus. "Kasih itu sabar; kasih itu murah hati; ia tidak cemburu. Ia tidak memegahkan diri dan tidak sombong. Ia tidak melakukan yang tidak sopan dan tidak mencari keuntungan diri sendiri. Ia tidak pemarah dan tidak menyimpan kesalahan orang lain. Ia tidak bersukacita karena ketidakadilan, tetapi karena kebenaran. Ia menutupi segala sesuatu, percaya segala sesuatu, mengharapkan segala sesuatu, sabar menanggung segala sesuatu." 1 Korintus 13 : 4 - 7

Di dalam kasih itu ada bentuk-bentuk hidup dengan hati yang murni, penuh ketulusan dan kejujuran. Artinya jika kita mengaku hidup dalam kasih TUHAN, seharusnya kedua hal ini pun terpancar dari kehidupan kita. Bagaimana mungkin orang yang tidak jujur dan tidak tulus masih berani mengaku punya kasih dalam dirinya ? Dan bagaimana mungkin orang yang tidak memiliki kasih mengaku mengenal ALLAH ? "Barangsiapa tidak mengasihi, ia tidak mengenal ALLAH, sebab ALLAH adalah kasih." 1 Yohanes 4 : 8

Kita harus selalu ingat bahwa segala sesuatu itu berasal dari TUHAN. Kita tidak perlu takut kekurangan dan khawatir akan hari depan sehingga merasa harus melakukan tindakan-tindakan yang tidak jujur atau curang agar bisa hidup. Kita tidak perlu merasa iri melihat orang lain, dan harus bisa belajar untuk mendahulukan kepentingan orang lain ketimbang kepentingan diri sendiri. Yakobus mengingatkan "Sebab di mana ada iri hati dan mementingkan diri sendiri di situ ada kekacauan dan segala macam perbuatan jahat." Yakobus 3 : 16

Kita harus selalu menghindari berbuat curang yang mencermarkan hati kita. Ketahuilah bahwa meski mungkin kita berhasil mengelabui manusia, tapi TUHAN akan selalu melihat segala perbuatan kita. Dan Firman TUHAN berkata: "Dan tidak ada suatu makhlukpun yang tersembunyi di hadapan-NYA, sebab segala sesuatu telanjang dan terbuka di depan mata DIA, yang kepada-NYA kita harus memberikan pertanggungan jawab." Ibrani 4 : 13

Secara tegas TUHAN juga berfirman: "Seharusnya mereka merasa malu, sebab mereka melakukan kejijikan; tetapi mereka sama sekali tidak merasa malu dan tidak kenal noda mereka. Sebab itu mereka akan rebah di antara orang-orang yang rebah, mereka akan tersandung jatuh pada waktu mereka dihukum, firman TUHAN." Yeremia 8 : 12

Orang bisa saja menganggap bahwa TUHAN tidak menghukum mereka saat ini dan berpikir bahwa mereka aman dari hukuman. Orang-orang jahat ini bisa saja pintar dalam menipu manusia, atau menghamburkan uangnya untuk menyuap penegak hukum agar terlepas dari jerat hukum. Sekarang mungkin lepas, tapi pada suatu ketika nanti hukuman TUHAN itu tetap akan tiba biar bagaimanapun. Akan datang waktunya dimana semua harus dipertanggungjawabkan di hadapan TUHAN, dan disana tidak akan ada yang bisa berkelit lagi. Kepentingan sesaat di dunia fana diprioritaskan dengan sebuah hidup yang kekal ? Itu tentu sebuah pilihan yang sangat bodoh.

Dunia memang semakin lama semakin buruk, tetapi kita orang percaya tidak boleh ikut-ikutan seperti itu. Dunia semakin kekurangan orang-orang yang tulus dan jujur, kita harus menunjukkan bahwa umat-NYA yang ada di dunia ini bisa tampil beda dengan ketulusan dan kejujuran sebagai bagian dari kehidupan kekristenan yang sebenarnya.

Oleh karena itu jagalah agar kita bisa memiliki ketulusan hati dan kejujuran. Apapun alasannya, apapun resikonya, Belajarlah untuk senantiasa mempercayai TUHAN, mengasihi-NYA dan hidup sesuai kehendak-NYA. TUHAN menyediakan berkat-berkat bagi orang yang hidup dengan ketulusan, kejujuran dan kemurnian hati. "Berbahagialah orang yang suci hatinya, karena mereka akan melihat ALLAH." Matius 5 : 8

Ini janji TUHAN sendiri. "Sesungguhnya ALLAH itu baik bagi mereka yang tulus hatinya, bagi mereka yang bersih hatinya." Mazmur 73 : 1

Dunia boleh saja memandang anda dengan sinis, melihat anda sebagai mahluk aneh, mengolok-olok atau menertawakan kejujuran dan ketulusan sebagai suatu hal yang bodoh. Biarkanlah. Bukan apa kata manusia yang penting, tapi bagaimana TUHAN memandang hidup kita itulah yang penting. TUHAN menjanjikan berkat dan keadilan bagi orang-orang yang hidup dengan tangan yang bersih dan hati yang murni.

Nikmati kebaikan TUHAN lewat hidup yang kudus dimana ketulusan dan kejujuran berperan didalamnya. Keduanya merupakan bagian dari integritas yang wajib dimiliki anak-anak TUHAN. TUHAN sanggup memberkati anda berlimpah-limpah dan melindungi hidup setiap orang yang berjalan seturut kehendak-NYA tanpa anda harus menipu dan melakukan kejahatan untuk sukses.

Susahkah hidup jujur ? Secara teori mudah bagi kita untuk mengatakan tidak, tetapi pada prakteknya itu sulit. Orang yang jujur akan kehilangan banyak kesempatan karena tidak bisa mengikuti arus ditempatnya bekerja. Ada seorang teman yang karirnya mandek hanya gara-gara memilih hidup jujur. Ia menolak untuk ikut-ikutan menikmati sisa dana anggaran di sebuah instansi pemerintah. Masih mending kalau memang sisa, tapi sepanjang tahun mereka mempergunakan anggaran sekecil mungkin agar sisanya besar. Karena menolak ikut, ia pun dipinggirkan oleh rekan-rekan dan pimpinannya. Ini baru satu contoh kecil saja dari pola pikir tidak jujur yang terjadi dimana-mana.

Kita harus pintar mengikuti arus agar bisa bertahan pada posisi dalam karir, berbohong, menutupi kebenaran atau ikut melakukan penyelewengan. Semakin lama kejujuran semakin menjadi barang langka yang meski selalu diajarkan dimana-mana tetapi pada kenyataannya semakin dipinggirkan. Di mata dunia mungkin seperti itu, tetapi ingatlah bahwa kejujuran yang sekecil apapun memiliki nilai yang sangat tinggi di mata TUHAN.

Dalam konteks kekristenan, kejujuran adalah sesuatu yang harus dilakukan oleh orang percaya. Imbalan yang disediakan TUHAN bagi orang jujur bukan main besarnya. Lihatlah ayat ini: "Orang yang hidup dalam kebenaran, yang berbicara dengan jujur, yang menolak untung hasil pemerasan, yang mengebaskan tangannya, supaya jangan menerima suap, yang menutup telinganya, supaya jangan mendengarkan rencana penumpahan darah, yang menutup matanya, supaya jangan melihat kejahatan, dialah seperti orang yang tinggal aman di tempat-tempat tinggi, bentengnya ialah kubu di atas bukit batu; rotinya disediakan air minumnya terjamin." Yesaya 33 : 15 - 16

Lihatlah betapa besar nilai kejujuran di mata TUHAN. Mungkin di dunia ini kita bisa mengalami kerugian atau bahkan malah mendapat masalah karena memutuskan untuk berlaku jujur. Tetapi itu bukanlah masalah karena kelak dalam kehidupan selanjutnya yang kekal semua itu akan diperhitungkan sebagai kebenaran yang berkenan di hadapan ALLAH.

Dalam Mazmur 64 : 11 dikatakan: "Orang benar akan bersukacita karena TUHAN dan berlindung pada-NYA; semua orang yang jujur akan bermegah." Pada saat ini mungkin kita rugi akibat memutuskan untuk jujur, tetapi kelak pada saatnya kita akan bermegah dan bersyukur karena telah mengambil keputusan yang benar.

Bagaimana kalau kita harus menerima konsekuensi diperlakukan tak adil jika memilih jujur ? Anggaplah itu sebuah ujian. Seperti layaknya ujian, untuk menghadapinya memang bisa jadi berat. Tetapi keseriusan dan ketekunan kita dalam menghadapinya akan menentukan hasil akhir. Akan halnya ujian kejujuran, ada saat-saat dimana anda merasa diperlakukan tidak adil, sudah jujur malah disalahkan dan dirugikan. Hadapi ujian dengan tegar, tetap fokuskan pandangan jauh ke depan, kepada sebuah kehidupan abadi yang akan anda jalani kelak. Bukan apa yang fana di dunia ini yang penting melainkan seperti apa anda nantinya dalam penghakiman TUHAN.

Yakobus berkata: "Saudara-saudaraku, anggaplah sebagai suatu kebahagiaan, apabila kamu jatuh ke dalam berbagai-bagai pencobaan, sebab kamu tahu, bahwa ujian terhadap imanmu itu menghasilkan ketekunan. Dan biarkanlah ketekunan itu memperoleh buah yang matang, supaya kamu menjadi sempurna dan utuh dan tak kekurangan suatu apapun." Yakobus 1 : 2 - 4

Ujian akan menumbuhkan ketekunan, dan dari sana kita bisa menghasilkan buah-buah yang matang. Karakter kita akan disempurnakan lewat ujian-ujian itu. Ujian adalah kesempatan bagi kita untuk naik ke tingkatan yang lebih tinggi, dan karena itu seharusnya kita berbahagia ketika mendapat kesempatan untuk ujian. Buat sesaat kecurangan mungkin bisa memberi banyak keuntungan, tetapi itu semua hanyalah sesaat dan fana.

Untuk sebuah hidup yang kekal, kecurangan tidak akan pernah membawa keuntungan malah mendatangkan kerugian. Jangan lupa bahwa TUHAN sudah berkata bahwa DIA tidak akan menutup mata dari apapun yang kita lakukan dalam hidup kita. "Malah Ia mengganjar manusia sesuai perbuatannya, dan membuat setiap orang mengalami sesuai kelakuannya." Ayub 34 : 11. Baik atau tidak akan membawa ganjaran atau konsekuensinya sendiri. Ini termasuk pula komitmen kita untuk tetap mempertahankan kejujuran dan kesetiaan dengan tidak mengeluh terhadap konsekuensi apapun yang kita alami di dunia ini. Mengapa demikian ? Sebab Firman TUHAN kemudian berkata: "supaya kamu tiada beraib dan tiada bernoda, sebagai anak-anak ALLAH yang tidak bercela di tengah-tengah angkatan yang bengkok hatinya dan yang sesat ini, sehingga kamu bercahaya di antara mereka seperti bintang-bintang di dunia." Filipi 2 : 15

Sebagai anak-anak ALLAH dan bukan anak-anak dunia sudah seharusnya kita menunjukkan kebenaran dan berani tampil beda. Kita tidak boleh ikut-ikutan arus sesat dari angkatan yang bengkok hatinya karena kita menyandang status sebagai anak-anak ALLAH. Pada akhirnya kita akan melihat bahwa perjuangan kita terhadap kejujuran tidak akan sia-sia. Kita hidup di dalam masyarakat yang mau menghalalkan segala cara, yang hidup dengan standar-standar ganda dan yang tidak lagi menghargai kebenaran dan kejujuran. Meski anda masih muda, mulailah menunjukkan nilai-nilai kejujuran dan kebenaran, jangan tukarkan itu dengan apapun, dan lihatlah pada saatnya nanti setiap orang jujur akan bersukacita memetik buahnya. Dunia boleh saja menolak kejujuran, di mata TUHAN sekecil apapun itu akan sangat berharga.

Titus warned thus: "Servants obey his master shall in all respects and acceptable to them , do not argue , do not cheat , but be always sincere and faithful , so that they thus in all things glorifying the doctrine of God our Savior . " Titus 2 : 9-10
By doing bribe means we do not glorify GOD , but of the Lord . Of course none of us are deliberately not dare to insult God ?

Kisah Para Rasul 8 : 18 — “ Ketika Simon melihat, bahwa pemberian ROH KUDUS terjadi oleh karena rasul-rasul itu menumpangkan tangannya, ia menawarkan uang kepada mereka.”

Entah bagaimana membersihkan negara ini dari korupsi. Terlepas dari segala pro dan kontra, badan-badan pemberantas korupsi di Indonesia terus berupaya untuk meringkus orang-orang yang tega merugikan negara dan mengemplang uang rakyat demi kepentingan pribadi atau golongan. Kita terus melihat tersangka baru, tahanan baru bahkan kerap terkejut melihat nama-nama beken yang tertangkap, baik berdasarkan pemeriksaan saksi, pengumpulan bukti-bukti atau yang langsung tertangkap tangan ketika sedang transaksi. Ironisnya, hampir semuanya mendapat hukuman yang jauh dibawah rasa keadilan. Ternyata selain korupsi, suap menyuap pun menjadi momok yang sudah berakar hingga ke sendi-sendi kehidupan masyarakat umum.

Hakim bisa disuap, hukum bisa dibeli, bahkan sistem birokrasi sengaja dibuat sedemikian rupa sehingga diperlukan pelicin di setiap titik agar urusan tidak tersendat dan bisa menggelincir mulus tanpa hambatan. Ada oknum-oknum yang memeras sehingga kita dipaksa untuk menyuap jika tidak mau mendapat masalah, ada yang mempersulit urusan supaya peluang disogok terbuka. Ucapan-ucapan selamat atau terima kasih pun sudah diwakili oleh amplop agar mendapat kemudahan kelak di kemudian hari. Calo, joki, orang dalam, semua ini merupakan perantara yang siap membantu urusan-urusan dengan menyalurkan uang pelicin atau sogokan kepada pihak-pihak berwenang yang tentunya dibagi dengan keuntungan buat dirinya sendiri.

Sebuah bagian dalam Kisah Para Rasul mencatat masalah suap ini, yaitu pada pasal 8 : 4 - 25. Pada suatu hari Petrus dan Yohanes diutus ALLAH mengunjungi tanah Samaria untuk melayani. Kedua rasul ini langsung sibuk bekerja menumpangkan tangan mereka agar segenap rakyat Samaria yang telah bertobat menerima YESUS KRISTUS bisa beroleh ROH KUDUS.

Di kota itu tinggallah seorang penyihir terkenal bernama Simon yang sebenarnya sudah menyatakan bertobat dan menerima YESUS KRISTUS yang melihat bagaimana kuasa mukjizat TUHAN turun secara luar biasa atas banyak orang. Sebagai orang yang punya latar belakang penyihir, tentu apa yang ia saksikan terlihat begitu menakjubkan. Walaupun ia berprofesi sebagai seorang penyihir besar, namun kelihatannya apa yang dilakukan para rasul lebih hebat dari apa yang bisa ia lakukan terutama ketika melihat bagaimana ROH KUDUS mengalir kepada para orang Samaria yang telah dibaptis sehingga ia pun tertarik meningkatkan ilmunya.

Ia ingin punya kuasa seperti itu. Ketika keinginannya tak tertahankan lagi, ia pun menawarkan suap. "Ketika Simon melihat, bahwa pemberian ROH KUDUS terjadi oleh karena rasul-rasul itu menumpangkan tangannya, ia menawarkan uang kepada mereka" Kisah Para Rasul 8 : 18

Katanya: "Berikanlah juga kepadaku kuasa itu, supaya jika aku menumpangkan tanganku di atas seseorang, ia boleh menerima ROH KUDUS." Kisah Para Rasul 8 : 19

Seperti pola pikir yang ada pada masyarakat saat ini, demikian pula Simon mengira bahwa uang bisa membeli segalanya, termasuk karunia ALLAH. Menyogok rasul untuk membeli karunia ALLAH ? Itu pemikiran yang keterlaluan. Jelas kedua rasul langsung menolak dengan tegas. Petrus pun segera menegurnya dengan keras. "Tetapi Petrus berkata kepadanya: "Binasalah kiranya uangmu itu bersama dengan engkau, karena engkau menyangka, bahwa engkau dapat membeli karunia ALLAH dengan uang." Kisah Para Rasul 8 : 20

Petrus melanjutkan tegurannya dengan memberi penegasan akan kesalahan Simon dan menyuruhnya bertobat. "Tidak ada bagian atau hakmu dalam perkara ini, sebab hatimu tidak lurus di hadapan ALLAH. Jadi bertobatlah dari kejahatanmu ini dan berdoalah kepada TUHAN, supaya IA mengampuni niat hatimu ini; sebab kulihat, bahwa hatimu telah seperti empedu yang pahit dan terjerat dalam kejahatan." Kisah Para Rasul 8 : 21 - 23

Untunglah Simon tidak degil dan langsung menyesali perbuatannya. Kita bisa bayangkan seandainya ia tidak melakukan itu, murka ALLAH akan membinasakannya dengan sangat mengenaskan.

Kalau kita mundur ke belakang, kasus suap menyuap ini sudah terjadi sebelumnya. Dalam kitab Pengkotbah kita bisa menemukan itu. "Ada lagi yang kulihat di bawah matahari: di tempat pengadilan, di situpun terdapat ketidakadilan, dan di tempat keadilan, di situpun terdapat ketidakadilan." Pengkotbah 3 : 16

Bukankah hal yang sama kita lihat pula sekarang ?
Keadilan menjadi sesuatu yang semu karena semua itu bisa dibeli. Fakta bisa diputarbalikkan dan yang terang-terang salah pun bisa berubah dianggap benar. Di tempat dimana seharusnya kita bisa mencari keadilan, justru disana seringkali menjadi pusat dari segala ketidakadilan. Itu terjadi di jaman dulu, itu masih terjadi di jaman sekarang.

Mari kita kembali kepada kisah Petrus dan Yohanes yang bertemu Simon sang penyihir di Samaria di atas. Simon memang termasuk beruntung karena ia segera menyesali perbuatannya. Tapi ada begitu banyak orang hari ini yang masih saja berkompromi dengan suap menyuap, bahkan menganggap itu sebagai gaya hidup yang memang sudah menjadi sesuatu yang wajar.

Berdosa menjadi urusan nanti saja, yang penting sekarang licinkan dulu urusannya. Padahal masalah suap ini tidak main-main, bahkan merupakan sebuah penghinaan bagi TUHAN, "Siapa berjalan dengan jujur, takut akan TUHAN, tetapi orang yang sesat jalannya, menghina Dia." Amsal 14 : 2

Selain penghinaan, TUHAN juga menganggap ini sebagai sebuah kekejian bagi-NYA. "karena orang yang sesat adalah kekejian bagi TUHAN, tetapi dengan orang jujur IA bergaul erat." Amsal 3 : 32

Berlaku curang dengan cara menyuap untuk kepentingan duniawi saja sudah salah, apalagi jika berpikir bahwa karunia TUHAN bisa dibeli. Karunia TUHAN tidak bisa dibeli. Keselamatan tidak bisa dibeli, TUHAN tidak bisa disuap dengan cara apapun. Semua ini bisa mengarahkan kita kepada kebinasaan. Ingatlah bahwa dalam kasus seperti ini yang bersalah bukan hanya satu pihak melainkan dua pihak. Pemberi dan penerima, penyuap dan yang disuap sama-sama salah dan akan menerima hukuman yang sama pula.

Dalam serangkaian peraturan tentang hak-hak manusia yang tercatat dalam Keluaran, kita membaca salah satunya berbicara mengenai kasus suap ini. "Suap janganlah kauterima, sebab suap membuat buta mata orang-orang yang melihat dan memutarbalikkan perkara orang-orang yang benar." Keluaran 23 : 8

Suap bisa memutarbalikkan kebenaran dan melukai rasa keadilan. Dan itu semua tidak akan pernah berkenan di hadapan TUHAN. Kita mungkin bisa merasa lebih mudah saat ini, urusan bisa jauh lebih cepat, terutama ketika sebuah proses memang sengaja dipersulit agar mau tidak mau orang harus menyuap supaya lancar.

Kita mungkin rugi waktu dan tenaga, kita mungkin harus belajar bersabar dan tabah ketika dipersulit dan mendapat ketidakadilan jika tidak menyuap, tapi itu jauh lebih baik, karena dengan menyuap sebenarnya kita tengah melakukan kekejian dan penghinaan bagi TUHAN.

Mungkin kita terpojok karena rekan-rekan di pekerjaan menerima suap, mungkin kita mendapat banyak kesulitan karena memilih bersih, tapi biar bagaimanapun itu bukanlah alasan untuk ikut-ikutan berlaku curang.

Titus mengingatkan demikian : "Hamba-hamba hendaklah taat kepada tuannya dalam segala hal dan berkenan kepada mereka, jangan membantah, jangan curang, tetapi hendaklah selalu tulus dan setia, supaya dengan demikian mereka dalam segala hal memuliakan ajaran Allah, Juruselamat kita." Titus 2 : 9 - 10

Dengan melakukan suap artinya kita tidak memuliakan ALLAH, melainkan menghina TUHAN. Tentu tidak ada satupun dari kita yang dengan sengaja berani menghina TUHAN bukan ?

Oleh sebab itu, hindarilah praktek-praktek suap menyuap, baik di posisi penyuap ataupun yang disuap.

Berbuatlah jujur dan bersih apapun resikonya, karena itulah yang berkenan di hadapan TUHAN.

Melakukan suap berarti tidak memuliakan bahkan menghina TUHAN, AMIN.

Roma 9 : 13 — “ Seperti ada tertulis : "AKU mengasihi Yakub, tetapi membenci Esau.”

Jika melihat dari ayat sebelum dan sesudahnya, seolah-olah ALLAH pilih kasih. Tidak, ALLAH tidak pernah pilih kasih, ALLAH tidak memandang bulu. Kalau begitu mengapa ALLAH lebih mengasihi Yakub daripada Esau walaupun Yakub banyak kekurangan ?

Dalam Alkitab, riwayat Yakub ditulis paling panjang dibandingkan ayahnya dan kakeknya,
• Abraham mencapai usia 175 tahun, ada 17 pasal yang memunculkan riwayatnya.
• Ishak mencapai usia 180 tahun, ada 14 pasal yang memunculkan riwayatnya.
• Yakub mencapai usia 147 tahun, ada 24 pasal yang memunculkan riwayatnya.

Riwayat Yakub paling panjang karena proses yang dialami Yakub juga berliku-liku. Nama “Yakub” memiliki arti heel catcher (pemegang tumit) atau “penipu.” Dan kalau kita mempelajari tentang kehidupan Yakub maka kita mendapatkan beberapa hal yang menyebabkan Yakub dikasihi oleh ALLAH.

1. Yakub seorang yang tahu “menghargai” hal-hal rohani

Kejadian 25 : 29 - 34 — “ Pada suatu kali Yakub sedang memasak sesuatu, lalu datanglah Esau dengan lelah dari padang. Kata Esau kepada Yakub: "Berikanlah kiranya aku menghirup sedikit dari yang merah-merah itu, karena aku lelah." Itulah sebabnya namanya disebutkan Edom. Tetapi kata Yakub: "Juallah dahulu kepadaku hak kesulunganmu." Sahut Esau: "Sebentar lagi aku akan mati; apakah gunanya bagiku hak kesulungan itu?" Kata Yakub: "Bersumpahlah dahulu kepadaku." Maka bersumpahlah ia kepada Yakub dan dijualnyalah hak kesulungannya kepadanya. Lalu Yakub memberikan roti dan masakan kacang merah itu kepada Esau; ia makan dan minum, lalu berdiri dan pergi. Demikianlah Esau memandang ringan hak kesulungan itu."

ALLAH adalah pemberi hak kesulungan tetapi Esau dengan ringan menyepelekan hak kesulungan itu. Yakub sejak lahir sudah menginginkan hak kesulungan itu. Ia selalu merindukan karena hak kesulungan itu sesuatu yang sangat berharga, sangat mahal. Hingga satu saat datang kesempatan yang baik dan dia berhasil. Hak kesulungan Esau ditukar dengan sepiring kacang merah.

Mengapa Esau menyepelekan hal-hal rohani ?
Karena hal-hal rohani itu tidak kelihatan. Tetapi Paulus berkata, “Sebab kami tidak memperhatikan yang kelihatan, melainkan yang tak kelihatan, karena yang kelihatan adalah sementara, sedangkan yang tak kelihatan adalah kekal.” 2 Korintus 4 : 18

Itulah sebabnya jangan menyepelekan hal-hal rohani !!!
Apa arti hak kesulungan itu ?
• Hak menerima berkat/warisan 2x ganda (menurut tradisi orang Yahudi)
• Hak memerintah (menjadi pengganti ayah)
• Anugrah untuk menjadi anak-anak ALLAH. Yakobus 1:18, Ibrani 12:23
• Karunia ROH KUDUS. Roma 8 : 23

Bagaimana sekarang dengan kita, apakah kita juga menghargai hal kesulungan kita ? Di sini kita melihat peranan orang tua. Yakub menghargai hak kesulungan karena ajaran orang tuanya (terutama ibunya). Orang tua punya peran yang sangat penting, bertanggung jawab mengarahkan anak-anaknya. Seberapa besar kita menghargai hal-hal yang rohani dan menularkan itu kepada anak-anak kita ?

2. Yakub seorang yang tahu “mengejar” hal-hal rohani

Baca di kitab Kejadian 32 : 22 - 32
Hosea 12 : 5 — “ Ia bergumul dengan Malaikat dan menang; ia menangis dan memohon belas kasihan kepada-NYA."

Yakub bukan hanya menghargai hal-hal rohani tetapi dia juga mengejar hal-hal rohani, bahkan mengejar sampai dapat !!! Ia bergumul dengan ALLAH sepanjang malam dan tidak mau melepaskan sebelum ALLAH memberkatinya.

Pernahkah kita bergumul sedemikian rupa dengan ALLAH atau jika berdoa tidak mendapat ya sudah tidak apa-apa. Yakub sadar bahwa ia perlu berkat-berkat TUHAN dan ia mencari sampai mendapatkannya. Dan akhirnya ALLAH memberkati dia dan namanya diganti, dari Yakub sang penipu menjadi Israel (pangeran ALLAH, seorang yang menang).

Paulus banyak berkata supaya kita mengejar perkara-perkara yang rohani.
- 1 Korintus 14:1 – Kejarlah kasih
- 1 Timotius 6:11 – Kejarlah keadilan, ibadah, kesetiaan, kesabaran, kelemahlembutan
- Ibrani 12:14 – Kejarlah kekudusan Jika kita mengejar hal-hal jasmani kita belum tentu mendapat, tetapi jika kita mengejar hal-hal rohani, kita pasti mendapat !!! Amsal 21:21, seperti Yakub yang mendapat berkat rohani dan jasmani !!!

3. Yakub seorang yang merindukan “rumah” rohani yang kekal

Kejadian 47 : 29 - 30 — “ Ketika hampir waktunya bahwa Israel akan mati, dipanggilnyalah anaknya, Yusuf, dan berkata kepadanya: "Jika aku mendapat kasihmu, letakkanlah kiranya tanganmu di bawah pangkal pahaku, dan bersumpahlah, bahwa engkau akan menunjukkan kasih dan setia kepadaku: Janganlah kiranya kuburkan aku di Mesir, karena aku mau mendapat perhentian bersama-sama dengan nenek moyangku. Sebab itu angkutlah aku dari Mesir dan kuburkanlah aku dalam kubur mereka." Jawabnya: "Aku akan berbuat seperti katamu itu."

Kejadian 49 : 29 - 30 — “ Kemudian berpesanlah Yakub kepada mereka: "Apabila aku nanti dikumpulkan kepada kaum leluhurku, kuburkanlah aku di sisi nenek moyangku dalam gua yang di ladang Efron, orang Het itu, dalam gua yang di ladang Makhpela di sebelah timur Mamre di tanah Kanaan, ladang yang telah dibeli Abraham dari Efron, orang Het itu, untuk menjadi kuburan milik."

Di sini Yakub sudah makmur hidup di Mesir, TUHAN melimpahkan berkat-berkat jasmani di masa tuanya. Tetapi hatinya tidak di Mesir. Orangnya boleh tinggal di Mesir tetapi hatinya ada di Kanaan. Oleh sebab itu sebelum mati ia menyuruh anaknya Yusuf berjanji supaya tidak menguburkannya di Mesir tetapi di gua Makhpela yang ada di tanah Kanaan. Ia mau dikumpulkan bersama-sama dengan orang-orang yang ia kasihi.

Pandangan Yakub tidak tertuju kepada Mesir (dunia), tetapi kepada Kanaan (sorga). Yakub rindu rumah yang kekal di surga. Mungkin kita diberkati dengan limpah di dunia tetapi jangan sampai hati kita terikat dengan dunia ini, tetapi kita mau selalu merindukan Kanaan surgawi yang kekal karena di situ berkumpul orang-orang yang terkasih dan teristimewa kita berkumpul dengan TUHAN yang kita kasihi.

“Karena itu, kalau kamu dibangkitkan bersama dengan KRISTUS, carilah perkara yang di atas, di mana KRISTUS ada, duduk di sebelah kanan ALLAH. Pikirkanlah perkara yang di atas, bukan yang di bumi. Sebab kamu telah mati dan hidupmu tersembunyi bersama dengan KRISTUS di dalam ALLAH. Apabila KRISTUS, yang adalah hidup kita, menyatakan diri kelak, kamupun akan menyatakan diri bersama dengan DIA dalam kemuliaan.” - Kolose 3 : 1 - 4
